accept a temporary, paid teaching position in the United States through the Exchange Visitor Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>A J-1 Visa application can only be submitted after the Certificate of Eligibility has been issued, and the application must be processed through a U.S. Embassy or Consulate overseas, preferably in the applicant\u2019s home They enter the U.S. on J-2 dependent visas, which require each dependent to have an individual <strong>DS-2019<\/strong> to obtain a J-2 visa stamp from a U.S. embassy or consulate and to enter the U.S. (Canadians are exempt from the visa requirement).&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">J-2 status does not automatically grant work authorization. However, J-2 dependents may apply for permission to work from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) by submitting an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscis.gov\/employment-authorization\"><strong>Employment Authorization Document (EAD)<\/strong> (Form I-765)<\/a>. This grace period allows the teacher to remain in the United States to settle any personal affairs, make travel arrangements, and prepare for departure.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During these 30 days, the J-1 teacher is <strong>not permitted to work<\/strong> in any capacity, whether paid or unpaid. Additionally, the grace period does not permit reentry into the United States under J-1 status. If a J-1 teacher departs the U.S. during the grace period, they <strong>cannot return<\/strong> using their J-1 visa, even if the 30-day period has not yet ended.
